Stake yer claim!
If you have a blog that is being tracked by Ballhype, you can now claim it. I suppose the Wagons West analogy doesn’t quite work since your blog is your own original content, whereas the pioneers were settling homesteads on Native American land, but that’s an article for a different blog, different post. You get the picture anyway, right?

Several people have already claimed their blogs. To find your blog on Ballhype, enter the name in the search box, use the Blogs rankings page, or check the team page for relevant blogs in the sidebar. Click on the Claim Blog button, then add a piece of invisible code to your site so that we can verify that you’re the rightful owner. If you have a cohort of writers, you can each claim the blog so there’s no reason to fight over who writes the most posts.

Sure, it’s nice to associate yourself with your work, but the real reason to claim your blog is to get notified when one of your posts gets submitted, commented on, or hyped up. We’ve got notification options to satisfy even the most persnickety, including instant Ballhype message or email or daily digest.
UPDATE: See Hypetiquette for tips on promoting your content on Ballhype.
Not sure of where to post this, but just wanted to say I think the Ballhype concept is great. I am sick of reading all the people bashing this site and other alleged “Digg Clones”. What do these people want- a concept comes out and no one else is allowed to use it, target it, and possibly improve it along the way? If that’s the position everyone took, we’d still be be using the original Archie for Internet search because all those search engine “clones” like Yahoo and Google wouldn’t exist. I also think the label “digg clone” is inaccurate. A Digg clone would be a site that has categories on every subject just like Digg. Digg’s idea of letting users rate content was great, and should be a part of many web sites. But BallHype is quite different from Digg- their sports related offerings are much better. If you have a web site where people can rank content, does that make you a Digg clone? Ridiculous. Thanks guys for the great site!
I meant to mention one other concept- message boards and blogs. How many message board and blog sites are there for various topics on the Internet? Hundreds of thousands, if not millions. Many of them are great and the reason they are great is because they focus on a specific topic. If a new message board or blog site comes out, does every one call it a clone of some other site? Of course not! Digg-style sites are a new and different way to get and interact with information, and I hope there are many more niche sites to come.
Sorry guys if this was O/T but I didn’t see a recent relevant area to post this.
Hey Jason, thanks for your comments. We’ve definitely learned from what Digg and other successful social media sites like Reddit and Facebook have done, but we think we bring our own special sauce - nice to hear that you agree!
